Welcome to the Associazione Scuole Tecniche San Carlo, a non-profit, moral Institution recognized as one of Piedmont's foremost higher education institutions for the study and advancement of fine arts decoration and design. Our working classes and seminars are oriented to continuing education and development of professionals, and to vocational training and higher education of youth people in search of the first occupation, in consideration of the main productive trades and local areas' requests: manifacture and crafts large-medium sized industry and commerce.
A main aim of the school is the enforcement with the local economic system, in order to provide expertise and leadership in the preservation of the world's cultural heritage:
realizing effective interventions in partnership with multiple regions and other foreign countries;
planning courses dedicated to the growing number of foreigners in the area of Piedmont, and corresponding to social needs and professional integration;
planning training courses and new job developments, as the treatments of art works and wooden artifacts.
The school was founded in Turin in 1848 by Gabriele Capello, the cabinet-maker of the royal Savoia Family (aka the "Moncalvo" for he originally came from the province of Asti) and since there, it has been enlarging and earning a prominent and respected place in the field of decorative arts, crafts conservation and specialty painting.
In honour of the founder a branch school was opened in Asti in 2001, near the new Courthouse, in the area of San Rocco, a place in the history of medieval Asti, thanks to the commerce and the restauration of wooden manufactures. At no.24 of Via Camilla Scarampi, lessons take place everyday in well-equipped laboratories and classes, under the control of experienced craftsmen, artists and qualified teachers.
With an average of 3000 hours per year the school offers a wide array of services in the following areas:
Cabinet-making and Carpentry,
Wood-curving and Engraving Techniques,
Old Paintings Conservation Techniques,
Conservation of Mural Paintings and Wall Decorations,
Conservation of Wooden Artifacts,
Trompe l'Oeil Techniques and Decorative Fine Arts.
The courses are financed by the Province of Asti, totally or partially, and according to the tipology, they provide a vocational Qualification, a Certificate of Attendance or a Postgraduate Specialization .
OUR COURSES ARE DESTINED TO THE FOLLOWING USER TYPOLOGIES :
students who completed the compulsory schooling and enter the formative attendance until 18 years old;
young unemployed or odd jobs workers who wish to develop new paths or job opportunities;
adults who wish to bring their competences up to date or to develop new working paths;
immigrants who wish to prepare as a qualified workforce inside Italy.
